The MAKROSAFE Health and Safety Certificate was introduced to train virtually any person with an interest in a health and safety career. The industry is in dire need for trained health and safety professionals especially as health and well-being of employees has become a major element that employers have to consider.

The MAKROSAFE Health & Safety Certificate include all major aspects of the profession for you to safely follow a career in Health and Safety.

The certificate includes the following modules:

  • Health and Safety Functions.
  • Health and Safety Principles.
  • Health and Safety Inspections.
  • Risk Assessment.
  • Health and Safety Implementation and Evaluation

The certificate is fully accredited by the Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority (HWSETA) and endorsed by the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (SAIOSH). Once completed the students also receive 4 credits towards their Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirements.

At the end of the certificate learners are expected to be able to explain relevant current health and safety legislation and the consequences of non-compliance. They, furthermore, will be able to describe and motivate common law principles applicable to the health and safety in the workplace and state an opinion of the legal position of both the employer and employee. The students will be able to do so as they will understand and apply the relevant rules of the law of evidence and the law of civil and criminal procedures.

The content of the certificate is balanced between theoretical knowledge and practical assessments and is offered on a full time basis. This will enable students to obtain vital knowledge and information as well as the skills to implement the acquired knowledge in the workplace. Before the student can be declared competent he/she is expected to deliver a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate that the student is capable of implementing the knowledge in an active working environment.

The MAKROSAFE Health and Safety Certificate meets all requirements of the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA). Specialists with extensive knowledge and years of experience in the health of safety industry have been assigned to share their experience and train the students to become qualified professionals too.
