Introduction

Risk assessment training has been aligned to registered unit standards.  You will be assessed against the outcomes of the unit standards by completing a knowledge assignment that covers the essential embedded knowledge stipulated in the unit standards, and by compiling a portfolio of evidence that provides proof of your ability to apply the learning to your work situation.


The person attending this course will be able to:

  •   Explain the legal and specified requirements for conducting continuous risk assessments.
  •  Prepare to conduct a continuous risk assessment.
  •  Conduct a continuous risk assessment.
  •  Initiate remedial action and follow up on continuous risk assessment.

This course is targeted at employees with responsibilities for functions within the workplace that relate to health and safety.

  •  Explain the legal and specified requirements for conducting continuous risk assessments.
  •  The continuous risk assessment process is explained.
  •  The relevant documentation required for conducting a continuous risk assessment is named.
  •  The relevant hazards and risks likely to be encountered during a specific risk assessment are named.
  •  The importance of conducting risk assessment in a manner that fosters teamwork and avoid conflict is explained.
  •  Prepare to conduct a risk assessment.
  •  Appropriate documentation is selected.
  •  Various physical and environmental conditions which could exist are evaluated.
  •  The persons tools and materials required to conduct the risk assessment are verified as fit for purpose and available.
  •  Consequences for not conforming to legal and specified requirements in preparing for risk assessment.
  •  Conduct a continuous risk assessment.
  •  Hazard identification is conducted correctly.
  •  Significant hazards are systematically identified utilising the elected hazard identification technique.
  •  Relevant documentation is completed.
  •  Initiate remedial action and follow up on continuous risk assessment.
  •  Remedial action for hazards is implemented accordingly.
  •  Follow up action on continuous risk assessment is implemented accordingly.
  •  The consequences of non compliance to the procedures for initiating remedial action and follow up on continuous risk assessment are explained.

The programme methodology includes facilitator presentations, readings, individual activities, group discussions and skill application exercises.

What is the minimum candidates that can attend the risk assessment training course per group?
A minimum of 5 candidates can attend per group.

What is the maximum candidates that can attend the risk assessment training course per group?
A maximum of 20 candidates can attend per group.

When can risk assessment training be done at the client's premises?
Training can be done at the client premises when there is more than 5 candidates attending the course.

Do you provide public training classes for risk assessment training?
Yes, we provide public training if your company have less than 5 candidates that want to attend a training course.

Where does public training for the risk assessment course take place?
Public training takes place at the MAKROSAFE Training Center situated in Alberton.
