Learners wishing to acquire the competencies in this unit standard will be people responsible for the safety and protection of people working at height where there is a risk of injury from fall. The learner will be responsible for the safety of others performing tasks at height. Qualifying learners are able to develop fall protection plans for people working at height, required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993)

Introduction

First Aid Level 3 is a comprehensive first aid training course. All first aid topics are covered in the Level 3 First Aid training course. Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the correct use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) are essential skills emphasized to save a person’s life in a medical emergency. This is the ideal first aid training course for people in hazardous working environments or living in areas where medical care is not readily accessible.

This unit standard is to enable the first responder to react to emergencies at an advanced first aid level, until the arrival of more professional emergency personnel.

The programme methodology includes facilitator presentations, readings, individual activities, group discussions and skill application exercises. Know what you want to get out of the programme from the beginning and start applying your new skills immediately. Participate as much as possible so that it will be interactive and stimulating.

Introduction

First Aid – Level 2 Training covers the essentials of first aid in more detail. The extra theoretical and practical training enables students to improve their care of an injured person. You will be assessed against the outcomes of the unit standards by completing a knowledge assignment that covers the essential embedded knowledge stipulated in the unit standards.
