Closing date for the 2015 MAKROSAFE Health & Safety Awards competition is on the 1st of July 2015. This serves as a reminder for all our clients. If clients are keen to scoop an award this year, the time is now to hype health and safety in your workplace!
The MAKROSAFE Health & Safety Awards were introduced in 2013 to acknowledge companies and individuals who go to great lengths to ensure health and safety in their workplaces.

Participating and winning the MAKROSAFE Health & Safety Awards is simple; clients are expected to maintain or reduce the number of incidents reported in the workplace. We determine the winners by analyzing each company's records on health and safety, individually. The statistics analyzed are of data collected between every June till the 1st of July the following year.
June is around the corner. It is time to really hype health and safety so that incidents are minimized as much as possible. This will contribute to the overall productivity at the workplace. Maintaining health and safety is an everyday activity. However, after the festive season holidays, employees tend to get relaxed and need to be re-motivated back into safe operating procedures. It is a critical time where incidents can happen. There is stiff competition every year as companies thrive to keep as compliant, healthy and safe as possible. The competition is evident through the slight percentage difference between winners and their competitors.
The last MAKROSAFE Health & Safety Awards were held of the 5th of November 2014 in a ceremony that was graced by dignitaries and clients from all over South Africa. These dignitaries shared information and knowledge which was valuable and helpful to most people that were present.
Winners included, amongst others, Volvo Trucks SA, Regent Insurance, the Cancer Association of South Africa, the National Horse Racing Authority of South Africa, Clover SA, ADT Security and Hansen Transmissions.
There are three categories for the MAKROSAFE Health & Safety Awards
1. Individual OHS champions
These awards were specifically designed to honor and recognize individuals who have played a major role in their workplaces in maintaining and improving health and safety related issues.
Some individual winners from last year's awards expressed their excitement for their recognition and how that was going to significantly boost them to improve and do even better.
2. Industry Winners
These awards were designed to honor companies that have excelled well above all other companies in their industry.
3. Health and Safety Champion
This award recognizes the company that has made the biggest improvement in reducing the number of incidents reported.
Some 2014 award winners were collecting trophies for the second time in a row. All winners at the 2014 Awards ceremony collectively expressed their ambition to defend their title in 2015 again.
MAKROSAFE, therefore, expects a tough competition which, ultimately, will make everyone a winner.
This year's annual awards will be held at the end of this year. A date is yet to be advised.
