The MAKROSAFE Health & Safety Group Awards 2014

For a second year in a row, MAKROSAFE has used September to recognise and honour the finest and most committed branches amongst their clients whom they handed the MAKROSAFE Health & Safety Group Award.

The Makrosafe Health & Safety Group Awards were introduced in 2013 to recognise particular branches which perform best in health and safety in the workplace calculated by their performance over a period of 12 months within their organisations. The awards were introduced to give recognition as well as a thank you to all employees and the health and safety committee members for their commitment and dedication in ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for all.

With close to 100 branches being serviced by MAKROSAFE in 46 different groups of companies, a total of 46 trophies were handed out in September this year.

Winners were judged by a panel of various MAKROSAFE specialists. The panel assessed the average performance of their clients over a period of 12 months as well as their compliance to the MAKROSAFE Health and Safety Programme which was built on the foundations established by the South African Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, SANS Codes and By-Laws.

The 12 months period that was assessed by the MAKROSAFE panel was from 1 July 2013 to 31 June 2014. This is a window period that MAKROSAFE uses every year to assess the performance of its clients before finally deciding on their winners for top performance.

One of the remarkable observations in 2013 was the noticeable camaraderie and mutual respect that was evident when the group trophies were handed over to the various branches in the organisations.

Each organisation as a whole can be proud of their achievements, not only because of their commitment to Health and Safety and MAKROSAFE on a corporate level, but also to the health and safety of all employees, contractors and visitors to their branches.

Before nominating the branch winner, the MAKROSAFE panel took into consideration the following:

• Average compliance for the 12 months in question.
• Incident history and compliance to such incidents.
• Management of contractors and sub - contractors
• Promotion of health and safety in your orginisation

As a result MAKROSAFE is happy to announce the following branches as being the winners of the 2014 MAKROSAFE Health & Safety Award:

Industry Winners will be announced by MAKROSAFE during a prestigious event on the 5th November 2014. This event will take place at Defnitive Conferencing Erf 310 Kruin Street Isando. Raynard Loch has confirmed to be the speaker for the event. MAKROSAFE has secured the services of Robin Jones - President SAIOSHto be the Master of Ceremony during this event.
