The NEBOSH National Certificate in the Management of Health and Well-being at Work is ideal for general managers, Health and Safety, and HR personnel who have responsibility for, or involvement in, the health and well-being of employees as part of their day-to- day duties. This qualification will give these workers the skills and knowledge to tackle health and well-being at work. It will benefit companies in all sectors who are seeking to improve the efficiency and morale of their workforce. Organisations may wish to use this course as part of their health and well-being strategy to complete their existing occupational health staff.
This course is broken down into two sections; the first is aimed at focusing on identifying risks to health and safety at work, protecting health at work, dealing with mental health at work, and working effectively with health professionals. The second section is based on identification of workplace health and well-being issues in your own workplace. Harm can occur after a serious accident resulting in injury, or ill-health can be caused by certain processes, pressures or substances prevalent in the workplace. Health can be affected instantaneously or it might be effected by an accumulation of exposure to occupational hazards, be that work related stress or exposure to asbestos fibers. With the wealth of information gained by completing this course, the learner will have the knowledge and skills to handle issues similar to the above, and it will provide the necessary tools for the candidate to become a great asset for their present company or potential employer, who will value these well sought after skills.
There are two modules within the NEBOSH National Certificate in the Management of Health and Well-being at Work syllabus:
- Managing Health and Well-being in the Workplace, assessed via a written examination.
- Practical assessment based on identification of workplace health and well-being issues in your own workplace.
A unit certificate is issued denoting successful achievement of each unit. A certificate award parchment is issued on successful completion of both units.
Being relatively new and uncommon, this qualification could open doors to new employment not typically covered by regular Health and Safety certification and offer great possibilities for promotion. It is also an ideal qualification for key personnel responsible for other employees looking to acquire specialist knowledge of health and well-being for advancement in their career and to stand out in a company.
