  • The audit process is intended to determine the compliance of the company to health and safety legislation and determine the outstanding risk to the company. In this way a gap analysis is made of what areas are of concern and need to be addressed.
  • A report is prepared to identify the strengths and areas for improvement within the organisation’s health and safety management systems and also to provide observations and recommendations, together with action planning, for consideration. Formal feedback is also provided.
  • The MAKROSAFE Audit is conducted using a numerical safety grading system, which is as follows:
    • Non-compliance - 89% and below
    • Bronze - 89.1% - 93%
    • Silver - 93.1% - 97%
    • Gold - 97.1% - 100%

    • The audit is divided into three parts:

  • Acts, which includes the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Disease Act and the Tobacco Regulations Act which make up 70% of the total audit score.
  • The relevant OHS Act Regulations of which 13 Regulations may be applicable to the client and which makes up 20% of the audit score.
  • The relevant Metropolitan By-laws and Standards which makes up the remaining 10% of the total audit score.
  • MAKROSAFE Holdings auditors are appropriately qualified, highly experienced health and safety professionals. All auditors are registered SAIOSH OHS Practitioner Members and SAQA Technical Members.
